Why Buttons wears a Fi collar (and how to get £99 off yours)
Every dog parent in London has a version of the same story.
The squirrel on the Heath. The gate someone left open. The thirty seconds where you call their name and nothing comes back.
That’s a big part of why we’ve partnered with Fi.
What Fi actually is
Fi makes smart collars for dogs. The Fi Series 3+ tracks your dog’s location by GPS and sends you an alert if they leave a safe zone you’ve set, like your home or garden. If they do get out, Lost Dog Mode updates their location more often, so you’re following where they are rather than where they were.
It also tracks the quieter stuff. Activity and sleep, plus everyday behaviours like scratching, paw licking, drinking and eating. Over time, that builds a picture of what normal looks like for your dog, so you’re more likely to notice when something changes.
It isn’t a vet, and it doesn’t replace one. But “he’s been scratching more than usual for a fortnight” is a much more useful thing to bring to an appointment than “he seems a bit off.”
The practical bits
Fi says the battery lasts up to three months on a single charge. You can check your dog’s location from your Apple Watch, and you can upload vet records and insurance documents to the app so everything lives in one place.
Fi arrived in the UK earlier this year, so if you haven’t seen one on the common yet, you probably will soon.
Why we said yes
“With Buttons, the size of the thing mattered as much as what it does. Most trackers I looked at felt like a brick hanging off his collar. Fi is light enough that he wears it all day without a second thought, and it’s smarter than anything else I’d tried. It doesn’t just tell me where he is, it tells me how he’s doing.”
